Hike- Gold Award
Location: Barrington Tops National Park
Program: Four days and three nights in duration; this expedition allows participants to journey a section of the Tops along the Heritage Trail. Following both marked and unmarked trail, this exclusive route stretches from the subalpine areas of Barrington Tops National Park, through mountainous rainforests and sheltered subtropical gullies, to the world standard wetlands and dunescapes. Plant communities include wet and dry rainforests, heathlands, freshwater wetlands, dry eucalypt forests.

Hike- Silver Award
Location: Copeland Tops National Park
Program: This Program is three days and two nights in duration. Participants will learn the skills required for trekking and consolidate them through the Copeland Tops Conservation Area. Hiking over Mt Prince Charlie and camping at BOAC's Copeland Tops campground, participants can expect to be challenged and rewarded, encountering a rich variety of forest types including; Riparian, Wet Rainforest, Dry Rainforest and Open Woodlands.

Pack and Paddle - Silver Award
Location: Barrington River, Copeland Tops Conservation Area
Program: This qualification program is three days, two nights in duration; it involves hiking over the Copland Tops and Mt Prince Charlie to camp by the riverside at the "The Steps". The expedition then continues in canoes from "The Steps", paddling down the renowned Barrington River through some great grade 1 and 2 rapids.
Expect to be challenged and rewarded, encountering a rich variety of forest types including; riparian, wet rainforest, dry rainforest and open eucalypt woodlands.

Canoe - Bronze Award
Location: Barrington River - Rocky Crossing to Barrington Reserve
Program: Two days and one night in duration; this program allow participants the opportunity for both qualification and extension of skills in canoeing on Grade 1 moving water. Paddling on the Barrington River participants will journey 12km from Rocky Crossing to Barrington Reserve.
As a test expedition, students will be in charge of their own expedition and will be required to navigate, determine lunch locations, and maintain equipment. Guides will provide a careful eye ensuring safe decision making.

Canoe - Silver Award
Location: Barrington River
Program: Students will have 3 days and 2 nights of canoeing and camping on the Barrington River, paddling a 30km stretch of the river including some great grade 1 and 2 rapids. On this program participants will be camped at private riverside campgrounds BOAC's riverside campground "The Steps", allowing participants the opportunity to focus on skills development, river reading and river safety. Due to the gradient fall of the river, students will be progressing up river each day. Students will not be camping out of their boats, however further camp craft skills will be targeted in dry sessions at "The Steps".
As a test expedition, students will be in charge of their own expedition and will be required to navigate, determine lunch locations, and maintain equipment. Guides will provide a careful eye ensuring safe decision making.

Canoe - Gold Award
Location: Barrington River
Program: Four days and three nights in duration. This gold expedition will be held on the Barrington River and will involve intensive skills development and training. Students will paddle a more technical stretch of the river being challenged and rewarded with rapid skills progression on grade 1 and 2 rapids. Journeying from campsite to campsite, students will overnight at private riverside campgrounds, including BOAC's "Steps" riverside base camp.
A great fun and challenging program exploring the beautiful Barrington River. The Barrington River is a well known river throughout Australia for white water enthusiasts offering not only a beautiful environments with crystal waters but also known as arguably one of the best beginner white water rivers in the country.

Skill Outcomes
Through active participation in the Duke of Edinburgh training and qualification expeditions, BOAC instructors coach the development of the following skills:- Planning and preparation (including food and water requirements, weather patterns, and appropriate permissions)
- Navigation and route planning (including emergency planning)
- Camp craft (including shelter, fires, cooking, stoves and hygiene)
- Care of the environment (including minimal impact practices, sanitation, care of waterways and rubbish disposal)
- First aid and safety (including risk assessments, emergency equipment, emergency evacuation procedures, emergency contacts and reporting)
- Equipment use (including issue, fit, check and correct use of personal equipment and clothing, group equipment and activity specific equipment)
- Group skills (including group management and leadership, and teamwork)
- Skills specific to mode of expedition (ie. Canoeing Skills, MTB Skills etc)
