Sitting here riverside this afternoon, it occurs to me it’s probably well past time to update you all on what’s been happening up on the Barrington …

It’s been an awesome season so far. Flat out busy with our outdoor education programs expanding.

We’ve also had plenty of people about on the weekends and during the holidays taking advantage of our tour packages, or just hiring gear and doing their own thing. It’s been great to see so many repeat customers back up enjoying the area, and of course meeting a whole lot of new ones.

By far the biggest news of the season however would have to be BOAC taking on management of The Steps property. Closed and neglected this past couple of years, plans are in full swing to redevelop this beautiful riverside property and have the camping facilities restored by next season. Some new features will include onsite mountain biking facilities and an abseil site. Further developments are pending, so stay tuned!

As the traditional end of season draws near it’s interesting that we’ve been getting more and more bookings for the winter months. Kayaking in July, crazy cats, but hey don’t let the colder weather put you off after all it’s about the adventure right? Get out and make the most of it! Besides it’s not all about the paddling and winter is a great time for mountain biking. Also with the new abseil site the options just keep getting better. Also, keep an eye out for our new online store, coming soon. After a bargain? It’s that time of year when we look to updating or fleet stock. As such we have some great deals on an extensive range of second hand kayaks, canoes, bikes and associated gear.
